subject to the provisions hereinafter contained in paragraph (b) of this clause the capital of the settled property shall be retained by the trustees in their names or under their control and the income of the settled property from time to time received by the trustees shall be applied by the trustees in the payment of donations or subscriptions to such charitable institution or institutions for all or any of the charitable objects or purposes thereof or to or for such other charitable purposes as the trustees or a majority of number of the trustees shall in their discretion from time to time think fit and determine.
